One & Other Project in WIRRAL GLOBE
On 25th September at 10pm until 11pm I will be taking part in Antony Gormley’s Art at Trafalgar Square London, entitled One & Other. The event lasts for 100 days from 6 July until 14 October and I am one of 2,400 people to be chosen to stand on the fourth plinth for one hour. There is a live broadcast 24/7 and you can watch courtesy of One & Other in partnership with skyArts at OneandOther and you can watch my hour at Web Archive
Also there is a recording of me several hours before my appearance at Welcome.
What, you may ask, is the point?
Anthony Gormley’s work, The Angel of The North, Another Place and many others have inspired a lot of people and perhaps infuriated others but for me personally I have revelled in the possibilities that have been opened up by and through his work.
For my part of One & Other I will be reading out a selection of poetry on the plinth with a dedication and on behalf of a Charity or Organisation which plays an important part in all our lives. I am inviting people to suggest a favourite poem either from my collection of works (lol) or from a poet they know and love.
I also want to draw attention to the part which chance plays in our lives and to the plights which people across the world find themselves in. As I stand ( and sit ) on The Plinth I shall be remembering those in society who find themselves in troubled situations. Is it because of chance or some random act of nature? Is there a grand plan in the scheme of things which deals our lot in life?
Please take a minute to think about the significance of chance for the billions of people in this world. Those millions who have little or no access to clean water, those millions of people who survive in oppressive regimes, those whose plight is to lie incarcerated or tortured just because they are different in some way and please, please if you feel moved to do so, contribute towards a real change in our society by offering your love your support your contributions in any way possible.
Financial donations will I am sure be welcomed by any charity. Volunteering something of yourself whether it be your time, your prayers or your support will be gratefully accepted by most groups. Perhaps you would like to remember the 10,000 people in this country awaiting an organ transplantation to either enhance or prolong their lives.
Please remember that in this world we are One and Other.

My Poetry Category or by a Favourite Poet.
The results will be posted here, Poetry For The Plinth

I’m going to nominate three. I don’t expect three dedications, but I’m totally unable to choose between them, so you’ll have to do it for me.
My three would be ‘you touch my life’, ‘I need your words tonight’ and ‘escaping the cave’.
So there. x
